Adults returning to school have to overcome a lot more challenges than traditional students. Tips for Choosing Experienced Partners

Since it was enacted in 2014, the Workforce Innovation and Opportunity Act (WIOA) has increased job training opportunities for people who face barriers to employment. However, not all educational organizations are the same. The importance of experience in helping workforce students succeed can’t be overstated. Here are some tips for finding job effective job training programs.

Look for a program with multiple partners

The more job training partners a program has, the more opportunities your clients will have. MedCerts partners with over 400 workforce partners, including community action agencies, adult education providers, vocational rehabilitation centers, and American Job Centers in over 30 states. With so many partners, your clients will have many different options.

Ask how many students have completed the program successfully

Adult students who have obstacles to overcome often need extra guidance and support. When you’re choosing a partner, ask how many students have successfully finished the program and found employment in their fields. Unfortunately, the dropout rate for returning adult students can be high. A program that provides individualized support during the training and helps with the job search afterward can help students persist when times get difficult.
