Personal Care Assistance

Helping patients with bathing, grooming, dressing, feeding, mobility, transfers (e.g., from bed to chair), monitoring skin conditions, and more.

Vital Signs Monitoring

Basic Medical Procedures

Observing and reporting changes in patient health or behavior, assisting with medication reminders (but not administering medications unless under supervision) and helping patients with respiratory care (e.g., using inhalers, oxygen therapy)

Infection Control

Following infection prevention protocols, especially when dealing with immunocompromised or bedridden patients, plus proper hand hygiene and the use of personal protective equipment (PPE)and safe disposal of medical waste (e.g., needles, gloves).

Patient Mobility and Transfer Techniques

Safe lifting techniques, using assistive devices (e.g., walkers, wheelchairs, transfer belts) to prevent falls and injuries. Assisting patients in walking, moving from bed to chair, or getting in/out of vehicles and ensuring patients’ comfort during transfers and positioning.

Documentation and Communication

Accurately documenting patient care activities, observations and any changes in condition. Communicating with supervisors and other healthcare team members about patient needs, progress and exploring techniques for managing chronic conditions, supporting clients with dementia or cognitive impairments, and delivering end-of-life care with compassion and sensitivity.
