5 MedCerts Healthcare Programs That Fit WIOA Timelines

Published on

Finding reliable training on states’ eligible training provider lists (ETPLs) can be a challenge. A bad provider recommendation reflects poorly on you and wastes your participants’ funding, so you want to get it right.

A provider is trustworthy when it has strong completion rates, legitimate certifications and participants who actually get hired.  MedCerts Partner Solutions fits all three requirements, with a proven track record of student outcomes and multiple WIOA-approved healthcare programs. Many of these programs align directly with required study timelines, which can be as short as six months in some regions

Here are a few that fit that strict time frame, while providing some flexibility in case your clients need more study time.

1. Medical Laboratory Assistant: 16 Weeks

MedCerts’ Medical Laboratory Assistant program prepares students for a rewarding career in lab testing. Entry-level laboratory assistants have an average starting salary of $33,000 and an anticipated job growth rate of 4–5%, which is above the expected overall rate of 3.1%.

The program is designed to prepare students for the National Healthcareers Association (NHA) Certified Phlebotomy Technician (CPT) and American Medical Technologists Certified Medical Laboratory Assistant (CMLA) credentialing exams. For some students, these credentials can be the first steps to higher-level medical lab positions.

2. Cardio-Phlebotomy Technician: 16 Weeks

The Cardio-Phlebotomy Technician training program teaches two sets of skills: electrocardiography (EKG), or heart rhythm testing, and phlebotomy, or blood draws. These in-demand skills have an average entry-level earning potential of $35,000, with an impressive job growth rate of 10% over the next 10 years.

Program graduates are eligible to take the CPT exam and the Certified EKG Technician exam, another NHA credential. Students may choose to work in these roles for years or use them as launch pads to advanced clinical roles.

4. Electronic Health Records (EHR) Specialist: 12 Weeks

The EHR Specialist training program is ideal for students who want to be in healthcare but prefer a non-clinical role. EHR professionals are in high demand, with an estimated job growth rate of 13.5% — more than four times the average across professions.

The program prepares students for the NHA’s Certified Electronic Health Record Specialist (CEHRS) exam. The experience gained in this role, combined with additional training, can prepare clients for more advanced roles in billing, coding and compliance.

5. Medical Front Office Administration Specialist: 15 weeks

Clients interested in non-clinical healthcare work may also thrive in the Medical Front Office Administration Specialist program. The role has an impressive estimated job growth rate of 29% and an average starting salary of $30,000, though specific pay rates vary by role.

Students in the program work toward their Certified Medical Administrative Assistant (CMAA) certification. It can be a powerful stepping stone toward medical office management, healthcare billing and other lucrative careers.
